5 Steps for Concrete Wedge Anchor Installation

 

Step 1: Mark Your Wedge Anchor Installation Locations

Identify and mark the locations where you will be installing the wedge anchors. Ensure the concrete surface where you intend to install the wedge anchors is safe and can support the objects you plan to fasten.

Step 2: Select the Correct Drill Bit Size for Your Hammer Drill

Make sure you've selected the proper hammer drill and masonry bit for your wedge anchor. The bit should be the same diameter as the wedge anchor being installed.

Step 3: Drill the Holes for the Wedge Anchors

Using the hammer drill and bit, drill holes into the concrete at marked locations. Make sure the depth of the hole is about a 1/2" deeper than the length of the wedge anchor you're using. After drilling, use a vacuum or brush to remove dust and debris from the holes.

Step 4: Insert & Set the Wedge Anchor with a Hammer

Insert the wedge anchor into the drilled hole. Tap it lightly with a hammer to set it firmly into the hole. Wedge anchors feature a bullnose on the top of the bolt so the threads are not damaged while you hammer the wedge anchor into the hole.

Step 5: Tighten the Nut

Thread the nut and washer onto the exposed threaded end of the wedge anchor. Use a wrench or socket set to tighten the nut until it's snug. Be careful not to over-tighten, as this could damage the anchor or the concrete (check the manufacturer's manual for exact torque measurements).
